Ivanka has her own connections with russia…
While Ivanka Trump stays silent in the face of the Samantha Bee controversy, a new report has emerged revealing that, when it comes to devious business dealings, the apple doesn’t fall very far from the tree in the Trump Family.
Published by BuzzFeed, which cites several of Ivanka’s personal emails, as well as two unnamed sources close to Robert Mueller’s team, the article claims that Ivanka had a hand in attempting to arrange a meeting between Michael Cohen and Vladimir Putin. This proposal arrived during an encounter between Ivanka and former Olympic weightlifter Dmitry Klokov, who allegedly had connections to the Russian President.
Cohen traded at least two emails and a phone call with Klokov, but to his credit stated that he would not be going through with the offer. However, this should be taken with a grant of salt as Cohen’s word means little these days, as seen with his handling of the Stormy Daniels situation: if he was willing to help Trump silence someone, then he would be more than willing to help him out in a seemingly simple negotiation.
If the meeting had gone through, that negotiation would have been the construction of a 100-story Trump Tower in Moscow. As readers can expect, Trump would have benefited significantly from the development financially. But there was a political aspect to the Trump Tower plan as well.
Back in late August 2017, The New York Times reported on communications between Cohen and a real-estate developer with Russian ties named Felix Sater. Sater not only tried to help with the construction of a Trump property in Moscow over 10 years ago, but also boasted in 2015 that the success of such a project would help Trump’s presidential prospects:
“Our boy can become president of the USA, and we can engineer it. I will get all of Putin’s team to buy in on this. I will manage this process.”
Responding to the story, a spokesperson for Ivanka said that the First Daughter didn’t even know about the Moscow Project until after the nonbinding letter of intent had been signed:
“[She] never talked to anyone outside the Organization about the proposal, and, even internally, was only minimally involved. Her only role was limited to reminding Mr. Cohen that, should an actual deal come to fruition (which it did not) the project, like any other with the Trump name, conform with the highest design and architectural standards.”
Close negotiations between members of the Trump family and Russian officials have been the strongest basis for the Special Counsel Investigation, most notably the infamous Trump Tower meeting in which attempts to get dirt on Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton were actively discussed between a Russian lawyer and Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner, and Paul Manafort.
As Anthony Cormler, Jason Leopold, and Emma Loop of BuzzFeed stated, Ivanka’s communications with Klokov technically aren’t illegal, nor is there any evidence that they specifically spoke about the 2016 presidential election. But they do prove that she isn’t the innocent person that Trump is making her out to be.
