Cruz Got a very surprising question
Since becoming a United States Senator in 2013, Ted Cruz has developed a terrible reputation. During an interview with Cruz’s midterm challenger Beto O’Rourke on “Real Time with Bill Maher,” host Bill Maher went through a list of anti-Cruz quotes spouted by members of the Republican Party that easily painted him as one of the most unpopular politicians in Congress.
With the congressional elections approaching, that sentiment has reached a fever pitch even among his constituents, with one Texas woman having the guts to confront him with a simple yet profound question: are you human?
This happened during a campaign event on Wednesday, April 4, 2018. The woman in question was a voter who was suffering from a number of preexisting conditions and, as such, credited the Affordable Care Act with saving her life: the same Obamacare that Cruz has worked tirelessly to demonize and destroy.
Because of this, the woman threw this ultimatum at Cruz directly:
“I’m a woman over 50, who (as of February 7th) has seven active pre-existing conditions. I’m not counting being female, and a survivor of abuse. I purchase my individual policy on the Health Insurance Exchange. If you force me into a high-risk pool, you will either bankrupt me or kill me. I take your threats of medical aggression personally and seriously; and I can assure you, I’m not the only Texan who does.”
“My question is: Will you pledge to submit to a DNA test, to prove that you’re human?”

Her story mirrors another, albeit calmer encounter that happened between Paul Ryan and one of his state’s citizens during a town hall in January 2017, during which the man not only claimed that Obamacare saved his life, but personally thanked President Obama for pushing forward the legislation. Ryan’s response was of course empty political malarkey, claiming that the GOP was going to replace it with something better.
Cruz, on the other hand, didn’t even indulge in that fake rhetoric. Instead, he chose to complain about his feelings getting hurt, telling the woman that “one of the great things about our democratic system is that we can treat each other with respect and civility” and that if she was willing to insult him he was not “going to reciprocate.”
O’Rourke has gained a lot of steam since starting his own campaign to oust Cruz, but he will still need all the help he can get. Please consider supporting him so that we can not only be rid of Cruz, but also have a Democrat in office who does not take corporate money.
