Fox News Celebrates Trump’s Insane North Korea Concessions, Twitter Destroys Them Both

Fox News Lauded Trump's Summit with Kim Jong Un but specifically omitted the major concession Trump gave to North Korea.

The President’s Favorite Network Managed to Ignore Trump’s Massive Concession to Kim Jong Un. But Twitter Quickly Reminded Them.

There is very little consensus on the outcome and usefulness of the long-anticipated Nuclear Summit between President Donald Trump and North Korea Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un that took place in Singapore early Tuesday morning. Most would argue, correctly, that diplomacy is always a preferred method of conflict resolution — even if many of the people praising the decision conspicuously didn’t feel that way when President Obama opened up dialogues with Iran and Cuba. But what’s not disputable, however, is that the United States made the bigger concession of the two parties. Some, like veteran New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof, went so far as to accuse Trump of being “hoodwinked”:

It sure looks as if President Trump was hoodwinked in Singapore.

Trump made a huge concession — the suspension of military exercises with South Korea. That’s on top of the broader concession of the summit meeting itself, security guarantees he gave North Korea and the legitimacy that the summit provides his counterpart, Kim Jong-un.

Naturally, Fox News took a different approach. When they concocted a graphic running down the achievements of the summit, the fact that the US will no longer run joint military exercises with South Korea curiously wasn’t significant enough to be a bullet point:

It didn’t take long for Fox News to feel the wrath of Twitter:

One more item that did not make the Fox News list? The potential for gilded, obnoxious hotels branded by a certain out-of-his-league president:

Speaking to reporters after the historic summit, Trump said he told Kim that instead of testing ballistic missiles, the cash-strapped country “could have the best hotels in the world.”
